In honor of Black History month, the Lea County Commission for the Arts partners with various organizations in Lea and around the state to present an Annual Black History Month Celebration at the Center for the Arts in Hobbs, NM. 

The 2017 Black History Month Celebration featured live performances of music, dance and comedy by artists such as the Folkloric dance troupe, ALMAS Raices de tu Tierra, Oklahoma City comedian, Derrick Sier, local gospel choir, the Community Ensemble, Jefferson University’s (Jefferson Elementary) Drum Circle, DJ Trakzilla, Marquez Kaosu Nunez Nunez and Chryss Martinez. 

Admission is typically $5 at the door. The celebration is open to all ages and free for all LCCA members, program sponsors and children under 18 years. Free door prizes will be raffled during the event.
